Ahead of the Curve: The Food and Ag Tech Trends Shaping the Future

From the first online order that Pizza Hut received in 1994, the marriage of food and technology has grown exponentially to encompass nearly every aspect of our daily lives, and the global market. With every iPhone update and menu change, food and technology are becoming increasingly linked, and our quest for healthy and sustainable eating relies on integrating our technology with our food.

As technology’s reach expands, so too do the possibilities for bringing new foods, new products, and new methods to regions of the world where the lack of affordable, available, and sustainable food is increasingly problematic. Indeed, more than half the population of the world is now connected online, with more than a quarter billion new users in 2017 alone. Many of these new users are recorded in developing countries where mobile technology had previously been scarce, and thus access to the benefits were few and far between. However, with mobile data and online presence increasing by more than 20 percent each year across the continent of Africa, the ability for more people to access more ideas, inventions, and innovations has incredible possibilities.
